Info: Feather Story. Jin's starter, his introduction to Hanebanashi was mixed. However, her ability to parrot his own words back to him in his own voice lifted his spirits quickly, and she's quickly become his little darling (despite the fact that he still thinks that she's a boy). She's most often found nesting in his unruly mop of hair and preening him like she does her own feathers. She's as high-spirited and carefree as he is, and wherever he is making dumb decisions, she's right there encouraging him in his own voice.

Info: Friend Spirit. Yuuki was a gift as an egg from Yusuke, being the offspring of Yusuke's starter, Puu. As a result, Jin decided to name the Swablu in honor of his bro, only changing the kanji for Yuu into the kanji for friend, which is read the same way. He hasn't had the chance to get to know the Swablu very well yet, but he competes with Hanebanashi for the right to preen and fluff Jin's hair, chirruping haughtily at the hot mess on Jin's head. Hane is nice enough to humor him, usually, relinquishing her spot to the baby of the party. Since evolving, he sort of envelops Jin's entire head in his cloud wings and nuzzles him and purrs. Good dragon cloudbird, best pillow dragon cloudbird.

Info: Strength. If there's one pokemon on Jin's team whose capture will go down in the annals of history as his favorite to retell, it will be Riki's. Caught during the fossil event, Jin knew that all of his pokemon were weak against Rock-types, and unlike Hakou who went quietly, the Aerodactyls that invaded the town were by and large unfriendly. So he personally climbed on top of the Sprout Tower and jumped off onto the back of a passing Aerodactyl, wrestling her to the ground and throwing her in the pond out front. He came away bloodied and bruised, but alive, and plus one giant rock bird. He respects her strength, and in return she respects him greatly.

Info: Jin found Harbertale in his PC upon reaching Azalea on 8/29. He hasn't done much with the bird, but he has taken Harbertale out to stretch his legs and WOW WHAT A GLORIOUS MOUNT this is good, so majestic, so proud. He's part of Jin's travel team because he has Fly and that is a glorious thing, even if Jin doesn't have the Zephyr Badge yet and so has to be alongside Yusuke in order to Fly. When they get to Goldenrod, you can bet your sweet ass he'll be jetting back over to Violet for that badge and then you will never get him down off his glorious mount, s2s.

Info: Touch Investigator.Talk about Daddy's little girl – even before Touya left Johto and Jin got "custody" of the little ice-type, Sawakou was enamored with the excitable wind master. She dislikes being in her pokeball, and loves being carried. Ordinarily, Touya was the one to carry her, but now it's just her and Jin. When he first took her out of the PC in Azalea Town after she had spent four days in there, she was inconsolable, and he promised her she'd never have to go in the PC again. He bought her an Everstone, and she is going to be the most spoiled member of his team. She likes to battle, and she's deceptively strong for a tiny baby pokemon.

Info: Little Flame. Jin's second pokemon, his receipt of Shouen for the Newbie Deal from the Breeding Centre started him down a dark path. That path was the path of buying eggs for Touya every chance he could get. He isn't exactly the nurturing type, himself, but he gave it a shot and ended up with a completely OP'd Charmander. The not-so-little lizard is the first to charge into battle, but he also will ignore Jin's commands if he disagrees with that course of action. Far from being perturbed by this, Jin is highly entertained by the now-Charizard's cheeky antics.

Info: Sky Bird. ...Yes. Sky Bird. His Pidgey was just taking a nap on his backpack one morning, and he decided to throw a ball at it just to try out this ball-catchy thing. The Pidgey couldn't be fucked to try to break out, so it was caught, and Jin officially took his next step to becoming a pokemon trainer. Despite his name, Tenchou doesn't spend much time in the sky, preferring to just sort of perch in various places and zone off. Still, he does his fair share of training when asked, he just prefers to be lazy about it.

Info: Sky-Challenger. Tenbou dive-bombed Jin's head one night when he and Touya had made camp, and that was basically how he met her. Hanebanashi was quick to jump to her trainer's defense, and the two little birds had it out in the air before Hanebanashi carried the day and the Hoothoot finally fell. Jin was impressed by her sheer ballsiness, and so he caught her rather than letting her go. She's glad to have a trainer to help her become stronger, although she has a low tolerance for his antics and will nip him with her beak when she thinks he's out of line. This hurts a lot more now that she's evolved into a Noctowl, and he commonly bears little welts across his bare shoulders from her scoldings.

Info: Flying Net. An Emolga that Jin purchased from the breeding centre during his last egg-buying spree, Tobira got his name because the "wings" that he uses to fly are like nets that catch the air. Tobira is fairly quiet and content, although he's a light sleeper and will sometimes give the birds a zap if they wake him up. He's overall friendly and gets along with the rest of Jin's team well, despite his type advantage.

Info: Black Messenger. Kurotsuka is almost as chatty as Hanebanashi, and given the color of his plumage and his matching Dark typing, Jin gave him the name that suited him. The rest of Jin's team with the exception of Hanebanashi don't seem to like the Dark-type, and either the feeling is mutual or Kurotsuka is a huge tsundere when it comes to his teammates. He warmed up to Jin rather quickly, however.

Named after the bright colors of her plumage, she was a fairly easy acquisition for Jin, given that she fluttered down next to his Pidgeot and started brazenly flirting with the larger, modern bird. Since her revival, she's remained similarly smitten with Tenchou, although she listens readily to her new trainer. Battling isn't her strong suit, but despite that she's loyal to Jin and does her best when asked. Since her evolution, Tenchou has taken an interest in her as well. Is love in the air? Only time will tell.
